This structured certification blends live online learning, hands-on assignments, mentoring, and a Community of Practice to help you apply photovoice in real contexts.
Youwill design a photovoice session and full project plan, practice facilitating photo discussions, receive expert feedback, and gain tools and resources to guide your work. Upon completion, you’ll earn certification to document your skills for professional, academic, and community settings.
Certification includes:
- Completion of a foundational PhotovoiceWorldwide course
- Monthly Community of Practice sessions
- Two mentoring sessions with experts
- Peer feedback on your session and capstone project plans
- Optional presentation of your work
Alumni of Talking with Pictures or the Photovoice Method Summer School may begin with a Community of Practice session.
The 3 sessions are:
- Session 1: Connection and Content: Participatory Activities with Photography
- Session 2: Developing Photo-Taking Prompts and Leading Photo Discussions
- Session 3: Storytelling, Captions, and Arts-Based Expression
