Courses & Trainings

PhotovoiceWorldwide’s courses and trainings include theory, hands-on activities, access to materials and resources, and interactive discourse.

 

We provide the tools and skills needed to reflect on and convey experience in photos, contextualize the photos through discussions and captions, and use photovoice data to inform and advocate for solutions from the perspectives of the populations being served. Whether you are a researcher, organization, or community member, our instructors bring decades of photovoice experience to support your success. Train the Trainer:

Develop interactive online or in-person training and professional development workshops tailored to the specific needs of your project, organization, or team.

The Buffett Early Childhood Institute (BECI) at the University of Nebraska partnered with PhotovoiceWorldwide to develop photovoice training for staff, faculty, researchers, and early childhood stakeholders. The goal: Enable BECI to identify stories of inequities, strengths, and gaps in early childhood services and share these findings with state legislators to ensure access to essential childhood services for all Nebraska families. We facilitated a two-session online photovoice orientation and three advanced workshops in creative methods, photovoice for evaluation, and interpretation of photovoice data. Institute staff and partners are implementing photovoice projects with early childhood service providers and families.

Partner with your organization to train your facilitators, co-facilitate project sessions, build photo-sharing platforms, and create exhibits.

Assist your organization with the technical aspects of developing and implementing a photovoice project or exhibit.

Train you in approaches to photovoice data interpretation and help you to choose appropriate methods for your data and context. Develop surveys and facilitate virtual focus groups with program participants to gather data for impact.

Advise on outreach options to achieve your intended impact with photovoice. Develop exhibits, toolkits, books, social media events, webinars, and panel discussions to showcase your co-researchers photos and captions.

We offer a Photovoice Team-Building Program tailored to meet the specific needs of corporate teams, organizations, and NGOs. Interested in getting certified as a photovoice facilitator?

At PhotovoiceWorldwide, we already offer certificates upon the completion of our courses. Now we are exploring whether a more in-depth certification pathway — encompassing skills, ethics, planning, and facilitation — would be meaningful and useful to our community. Our aim is to launch the program in late 2025. Can you spare one minute to answer a few questions and help us shape this initiative?
