Photovoice Worldwide aims to “walk” this essential photovoice “talk” by creating a global community for photovoice peer-to-peer support and continuing education. Our online community is a place where photovoice practitioners can share experience and knowledge, while learning from and supporting each other. We accomplish our community-building goals through blogs, webinars, white papers, conferences, alumni events, and social media.
“Photovoice: Aiming for Impact” aims to share, envision, and strengthen the impact of photovoice projects around the world. It builds on the inaugural 2022 conference, “Photovoice at 30: Past, Present, Future,” which engaged 180 photovoice and participatory photography practitioners, scholars, participants, and leaders in keynotes, oral and poster presentations, panels, networking activities, and workshops.
With photovoice, the “how” of the method – building relationships, sharing power, and respecting process – is as important as any community or policy end-result.* The guiding conference question is: How can we maintain a balance between photovoice processes and impact while aiming to motivate and maintain momentum for social change?
The conference tracks are:
- Migrant justice and migration
- Photovoice and peace building
- Youth and activism for social change
- Disability and health justice
Abstract Submissions: Submissions are open April 1 – June 1, 2024. Track leaders will review submissions and select both oral and poster presentations.
