A lecturer in Educational Psychology and Research Methods at the University of Northern Colorado, Maaly’s teaching and learning is centered on diversity, equity and inclusion. In her roles as both educator and researcher, she adopts approaches that are participatory-centered to empower her students or participants, and cultivate an educational environment that is both inclusive and culturally responsive. Maaly uses Photovoice and other art-based qualitative approaches as the main tool to teach her psychology and research methods courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as in her research. With an extensive record of presenting her research at both national and international conferences, Maaly’s many awards and honors include a recognition award from the Society for Cross Cultural Research for an outstanding conference poster presentation. In addition, she has several publications that focus on transformative learning.
As an educator at PhotovoiceWorldwide, Maaly utilizes her expertise as an educational psychologist and qualitative researcher to co-create courses in various areas such as conducting literature reviews and analyzing visual qualitative data.
